Yudansha certificate

Those aikido practitioners who passed their master degree (dan) exam in Polish Aikido Federation receive the original certificate from Aikikai Foundation, Tokyo (like in all aikido organization recognized by Hombu Dojo all over the world). The certificate is given to the aikido adept by Doshu representative - most times technical director (Kanetsuka Sensei) or by Hombu Dojo shihan visiting the country.

The certificate (50 cm x 30 cm) is handmade and contains kanji letters understandable only to a few. We think it might be interesting to unveil the meaning of the Japanese words for those of you who have already received the certificate or will receive it in the future.

The certificate is read from right to left.

1. "Aikikai Foundation"
2. "4289" - registration number
3. "Confirmation"
4. First and last name of the aikido practitioner
5. "The above-mentioned person is conferred the fourth degree (dan) in aikido"
6. "8th year of the hei-sei era, October, 27th" - registration date (October, 27th 1996)
7. "Aikido"
8. "Doshu Ueshiba Kisshomaru"
